Stigma of Therapy Life Counseling Orlando

Stigma of Therapy

Life Counseling Orlando

Why do we seek therapy when the pain is finally great enough? We wait till the last minute thinking that the idea of seeing a therapist is death sentence. The Stigma of therapy attempts to keep people from seeking the help they need. Our weak fragile egos telling us that others don’t understand us. Saying to us that it is too embarrassing to share personal information. If your best thinking got you into a problem then what makes you think that you can bring yourself out of it? The answer is simple. We can’t think our way out of our own problems when we lack the insight and awareness. I refer to this as wearing the blinders.

Time To Remove

The Stigma of Therapy

Everyone including therapist need someone objectively to help you sift and sort through different issues and topics. Mental Health Therapy does not have to be utilized for only individuals, couples, teens, etc that have only experienced traumatic events.

This idea that we are so unique and different that we can’t open up needs to be thrown out. I have good or bad news. It’s all how you see it. We are not that special, unique or different in the slightest.

It can all be broken down into two categories. Fear-Ego and Love-authenticity. If you find that ego is getting in the way, realize this is nothing more than fear. It is the conditioning of society that tells us to “be tough, don’t share your dirty laundry”. These ideas and concepts no longer work.

We are all interconnected and to share with another who is able to stay objective helps us in so many ways. The stigma of therapy is ready to be lifted.

The Stigma of Therapy

Time for Authenticity and Change

I want my clients and people in general to see therapy as a wonderful and cool experience. Being miserable, resentful, unhappy and sloppy with what comes out of your mouth is just not attractive. It’s harmful to yourself and to others. It’s time to get real and authentic. It’s 2017 and people are awakening to self actualization, balance, self awareness and emotional maturity. We still have so many individuals sitting and suffering in silence afraid to admit that they need help. In fear of being judged or seen as weak. Come off it! Don’t give yourself or others that much credit. You need help and an outside objective opinion and guidance. How can be seen as weak?

Our natural human inclination is to suffer in silence and “suck it up”. Humans want to fix, solve and control things. We get frustrated and resentful when we can’t. There’s no need to suffer in silence.

Stigma of Therapy

removing the label

  • By not having the personal knee jerk reaction that you have, I can see the issues from various perspectives.
  • I can assist in brainstorming and seeking to help you find healthier choices.
  • You don’t know what you don’t know.
  • A good therapist is not going to take ANYTHING personal. This is one time you can truly open up and know it is safe. Confidentiality is upheld in the highest regard.

When you can allow yourself to see you are not unique, your life will change. It is safe to open up. It is natural to share with another.
