After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida International University in Liberal Studies, I went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.
It was my desire for helping others that influenced my decision to pursue a career in mental health. I dedicated my graduate internship to working with at-risk teens and discovered a passion in counseling adolescents. Teens are flooded with so much today. They are expected to grow up so fast and the pressure can be too much at times. My goal is to provide a safe space for teens to be able to speak openly and freely without fear of shame, blame or judgement.
I believe in the impact a person’s adolescent years can have in shaping their adulthood. It is in these formative years that the conditioning of one's personality is really shaped and set. If therapy can assist in aligning a teen with their true self and give them the support and confidence they need to face the real world then they can be unstoppable.
I specialize in treating adolescents and young adults that struggle with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, self-harm behaviors, and eating disorders. I have experience treating eating disorders in the residential and outpatient level of care. I also am passionate about running groups for teens as a way for them to practice what they learn in individual sessions.
I am a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and am in the process of becoming a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. I understand that what might work for one client may not work for another. Therefore, I do not believe in sticking to a specific treatment modality. My therapeutic approach is individualized to meet my client’s needs.
I am excited to work with teens and young adults. Reach out today and let’s get started. What a gift it is to give a teen the tools to equip them for the real world.
